Catherine Hazel Thorne
Is 5’10 tall, with piercing hazel eyes and long black hair. She grew up just outside Conway, AR, a mundane town. Raised by her father after her mother and brother left when she was 14. Her father, who only knew basic magic, discouraged her from pursuing anything more, leaving her abilities hidden and unexplored. Despite the limitations at home, Hazel was allowed to go to Elkmont Academy where she quickly stood out due to her intellectual drive and passion for learning.
Hazel is incredibly book-smart and thrives in academic settings. Her strengths lie in her ability to absorb knowledge and her determination to understand the world around her. However, her weaknesses include a tendency to please others at the expense of her own needs and a certain naivety about the dangers of the magical world. Though she is kind-hearted and protective of those she cares for, Hazel has yet to fully realize her own strength or the power that lies within her waiting to be unlocked.
Garth
Garth is a cheeky domestic goose. He lives on Hazel’s father, Thomas Thorne’s, farm. He hates mailmen and will attack them should they come to the house; he takes his job very seriously. Hazel changes his bandana out daily for him, as he get very dirty on the farm. His bolo tie is always the same, a brown stone embedded into silver. Hazel made it for him in middle school.
